A small team, built from lived pain.
Credbase is founder-led and deliberately small. We are close to the problem, close to the people we serve and honest about where we are in the journey.
The Credbase team
FounderBen NixonFounder & CEO
Ben founded Credbase in 2026 after living the third-party document problem from the commercial side of the desk. As Sales Director at one of the UK's fastest-growing fintechs, he helped scale the business from zero to more than £6M ARR, culminating in an acquisition by private equity.
That commercial ride looked clean from the outside. Inside, every closed deal, every renewal and every partner integration triggered the same quiet scramble. Someone in ops or compliance had to chase an insurance certificate. Someone in security had to prove an ISO was current. Someone in legal had to find the signed DPA. The paperwork was almost always there, somewhere, in someone's inbox or on a shared drive that only three people knew the shape of.
The cost of that mess is rarely a line item. It is the account manager rebuilding an evidence pack on a Friday night. The compliance lead who cannot go on holiday because the renewal window falls the same week. The onboarding that slips from ten days to six weeks because no one can locate one signed page. The senior stakeholder who asks a fair question and gets a defensive answer, because the honest one is 'we do not know where that lives'.
Credbase is the product Ben wished that team had had. Narrow on purpose. Calm by design. Built specifically for the middle layer between an inbox and an audit, so the answer to 'can you send me the current one?' is a link, not a project.
"I have watched brilliant operators lose weekends to the same paperwork scramble, over and over. Not because they were disorganised, but because the tools around them assumed someone else was holding the third-party layer together. Nobody was. That is what Credbase exists to fix."
You have probably felt at least one of these this quarter.
Credbase is not built from a whiteboard. Every one of these is a scenario we have lived through, or heard described almost word-for-word by the operators we speak with.
The Friday night evidence pack
A prospect wants proof by Monday. You know the documents exist. You just do not know which inbox thread, which shared drive folder or which colleague's laptop has the current version. The weekend disappears into reconstructing something you already had.
The renewal that quietly expired
An insurance certificate lapsed two weeks ago and nobody flagged it. You only find out when a customer asks. Now it is not a paperwork issue, it is a trust issue and the apology takes longer to write than the renewal did.
The onboarding that stalled at day nine
A new supplier is ready to work. The commercials are signed. But the ISO, the DPA and the questionnaire responses are stuck in a three-way email chain and every follow-up feels like nagging. Ten-day onboarding quietly becomes six weeks.
The audit question you cannot answer cleanly
Someone senior asks a reasonable question: 'show me every current third-party document, sorted by expiry.' You can get there, but it will take a day, three colleagues and a spreadsheet nobody enjoys maintaining. The honest answer feels worse than the work.
A few principles we are not willing to trade.
Narrow on purpose
We do one job well: keep third-party documents on record, current and ready to share. We say no to features that would turn Credbase into another sprawling GRC suite.
Priced for the people doing the work
Ops, compliance and account teams are the users who feel this pain daily. We keep pricing sensible so the buying decision matches the person who needs the tool, not the budget cycle two floors up.
Private by default
Your supplier data is your leverage. Nothing about it gets used to train shared models or to profile anyone. Human-in-the-loop where it matters, silent where it does not.
Advisors and collaborators
Credbase is supported by a small circle of operators from fintech, compliance and vendor risk who stress-test the product against real supplier workflows. We will publish advisors here as those relationships become formal, rather than list logos we have not earned.
Want to build with us?
We are not actively hiring yet, but we always want to meet people who care about supplier onboarding, evidence packs and calm product design. If that is you, say hello at hello@credbase.app.
