Full definition

Anti-bribery policy is defined as: An anti-bribery policy is a written statement of a business's commitment to comply with the UK Bribery Act 2010, setting out what employees and third parties may and may not do around gifts, hospitality, facilitation payments and conflicts of interest.

The Bribery Act creates a corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery. The statutory defence is having adequate procedures in place, and a written policy is the entry-level piece of evidence.

For suppliers, a signed and dated policy - plus evidence of training or acknowledgement - is a routine onboarding request, especially in construction, government, healthcare and financial services.
