Full definition
Modern slavery statement is defined as: A modern slavery statement is a published statement, required by the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 of businesses over £36m turnover, describing the steps taken to prevent modern slavery in operations and supply chains.
Larger suppliers must publish a statement each financial year, signed by a director and hosted on the company website. Smaller suppliers often publish a shorter statement voluntarily because clients request it.
When you request one, capture the URL, the reporting year and the signatory. A statement that is more than one financial year old should be refreshed.
