Full definition
Method statement is defined as: A method statement is a written description of how a specific task will be carried out safely, in the correct order, with the right equipment and by competent people.
A method statement bridges the risk assessment (what could go wrong) and the work itself (what we will actually do). It typically covers scope, sequence, tools, PPE, sign-off and emergency arrangements.
Good method statements are specific to the site and the task. Generic templates raise questions in an audit rather than answering them.
