Full definition
RAMS (risk assessment and method statement) is defined as: RAMS is the shorthand for a paired risk assessment and method statement - the standard site-safety document that describes hazards, controls and the sequence of work.
The risk assessment identifies what could cause harm and rates each risk before and after controls. The method statement then sets out, step by step, how the work will be done safely.
Principal contractors expect fresh RAMS for each job or work package. Reusing an old RAMS with just the date changed is a common audit finding.
